Back-to-School Cookies

Back-to-School Cookies

Hey Spin-Sters!!

It is that time of year again where the kiddies go back to school.  Some parents are rejoicing, while others (Jenn) are not so thrilled of another year of homework…

In any case we decided to bring you some cookie ideas to make the Back-to-School season fun. Enjoy.

We scanned the Pinterest and Google for ideas and this is our bunch.  Jenn did the apples and school houses, while Melanie created the sunflowers and pumpkins.  We used the same Sugar Cookie recipe from our Fathers Day post, it is worth a peek it is our favorite.

We wanted to do some layering this time so we cut out small cookies as well as large.  We laid out our designs prior to icing them, even if that is not exactly how they came out, it is just part of our creative process.

We chose a pretty color pallet composed of mostly primary colors.  We did add orange and a drop of brown to the yellow to create the orange for the pumpkins.

We always outline and then flood right away, it gives the smoothest appearance.   It is important to have toothpicks, wax paper, and paper towels handy.

The school houses went lighting fast, Jenns' son took one to school and his new teacher was impressed.  Needless to say they were devoured.

Thanks for joining us, we hope everyone has an amazing school year!!  Don’t miss the Decorate a Cake Series Finale next time.
