Spin the Pin: Pumpkin Spice Krispie Treats

This weeks Pin; Pumpkin Spice Krispie Treats, was a total fail. Please take a look at our video below to see how it all went down.

Here is the Pin we tried from Essentially Eclectic.

This is a hard post for us to write.  We usually try everything we can to make a pin work.  That is what we do.  We like to figure it out and let you know how to fix it.  So when we can't get a Pin to work at all we feel as though we have failed you, our subscribers.  It is not so much that the Pin failed, but that we failed.  We take it kinda personal.

The Blog post for this Pin was beautifully done. The photography was great and there were several collages perfect for Pinterest.  There were quite a lot of comments, but as we read them we noticed only a couple of people had actually tried the recipe, and they had the same issues we did. Soggy treats that wouldn't hold together.

I think the Cakespinners deserve a slap on the wrist for not reading the comments and preparing for the worst.  We knew going in the pumpkin was going to be an issue, so we tried to drain it on a paper towel.  As you can see the paper towel soaked up a ton of moisture from the pumpkin. Unfortunately it just wasn't enough.

Melanie makes Krispie treats a lot and she felt a whole bag of marshmallows was needed. So we added more marshmallows, but by then the mixture was already soggy. Jenn felt the pumpkin needed to be omitted all together, and suggests adding a drop of orange food coloring to get the orange pumpkin effect. We had a hard time tasting the pumpkin any way, but the spice did add that great fall flavor most people are looking for.

We agreed to revisit this pin next year to see if we can nail it down for y'all.

If there is a Pin you'd like us to try please let us know, we'd love to take it on.  Until next next week...

SPIINN!!!
